Tail Blazers
A dog owner and lover since the age of four, Yvette holds a certificate in Pet First Aid (obtained in 2002 and refreshed in 2004), and in 2004 completed the instructor’s course. She is a member of the All Canadian Pet Services Network (www.acpsn.com ), a non-profit association dedicated to setting standards of professionalism in the pet care industry, and has also been involved in many different fundraising efforts and dog-related tradeshows & festivals. In her free time Yvette has made a personal study of canine behaviour and nutrition, educating herself on how to home-cook for her dogs, as well as which healthy ingredients to use in her dog cookies. She has attended a Pat Miller seminar on canine behaviour with a focus on aggression, and continuously reads to further her education and keep up-to-date on training methods, new products on the market and new theories in canine psychology.
Her own canine companion is Blazer, a Collie-Husky mix originally from the Toronto Humane Society. Blazer and Yvette have completed a beginner-level Agility Course (www.k9klubhouse.ca), and hope to one day master the intermediate and advanced levels. An experienced dog walker, Yvette likes to reinforce basic obedience with all of her canine clients, returning a tired, happy and well-behaved pup. She also believes in a firm but gentle hand, and treats all of her doggy friends like a member of her own family.
In addition to operating Tail Blazers since 2002, Yvette also runs competitively and enjoys boxing at the Egerton Marcus Boxing Academy (www.embaboxing.com) in her neighbourhood, Liberty Village. And to round things out, she was formerly the front woman of a rock/metal band!
Yvette attended the University of King's College and the University of Toronto.
