About usThe puppy that you see in the picture beside me is the reason that Furry Friends Pet Care Services came to be. I have always been an animal lover. When I was a child you could always find me sitting in a corner with my nose in some sort of dog book. For years, my life's goal was to be a veterinarian though after a while I realized I did not have the heart for some of the harder parts of the job like putting an animal to sleep. I still, however, surrounded myself with animals. Growing up, my family and I bred miniature poodles and we were always avid Cocker Spaniel owners. When I graduated from high school in addition to my part time job, and being a full time college student I used to house sit and pet sit for friends, family, neighbors, which I loved because unfortunately living in an apartment at the time I wasn't allowed to have my own dog. Luckily we could have cats and I got my first two babies, Kitty and Buffy in 2003 and 2004. They are little characters and brought so much joy into my life. So much so that for years I desperately wanted a puppy to complete our family and that dream was realized when we moved into our home last year and brought home a 10 week old 4 pound Cocker Spaniel named Chloe. I knew Chloe was special as soon as I saw her. It was truly love at first sight. We were attached at the hip as I was on vacation the first 2 weeks we got her. She went for car rides with me, walks all the time, park trips, you name it we did it.
When my vacation was over Chloe was crated while my husband and I were at work and as the weeks went on I noticed that because Chloe was crated for 8-9 hours a day she was not behaving as well as she was before, she was far more hyper and didn't seem as happy. It killed me to have to leave her each day. As I thought more and more about it I thought to myself that I couldn't be the only person who felt this way. I did a lot of research on pet sitting and dog walking and realized there was a dire lack of professional pet care options available. I found many people that did it on the side, or were uninsured and that bothered me because my animals are my babies and as a pet owner if I was going to leave my animal in someone else's care I would want only a professional so I'd least have some peace of mind. So I left my career in insurance and Furry Friends Pet Care Services was born! I give you my personal promise that if you trust us with your animal's care you will only get the best in pet care, customer service, and reliability. Within just a few months of opening we have already added some experienced animal care professionals to our staff and have formed relationships with some wonderful pet related business in the area. We are pleased to be serving Rhode Island and hope that you choose Furry Friends for all of your pet care needs!
