I'm Jen
Thank you for your interest in Portland Dog Runner!
I have been a dog lover since my family dog, Frodo the Saint Bernard, taught me how to walk at the age of 1. He would be so patient as I grabbed on to his fur and toddled around behind him as we toured the house and yard. Many years later, after many great experiences training, showing, living with, rescuing and volunteering, I am finally running with dogs. It is a wonder it took me so long to decide on dog care as a profession.
My specialty is in running with dogs. I am a marathon runner and am usually in training for one race or another. There is nothing like the companionship of a happy dog while on a long or short run in the park, on a trail, or just around the neighborhood. I will take your dog running with me, and here's how it will work:
* I'll meet you and your dog for a free trial run, after which we will mutually decide on
the proper running program for your dog according to his or her needs, behavior and
abilities. (I'll also have a few informational forms along with me for review.)
* I'll meet your dog at our designated space for the first run with fresh water and
biodegradable poop bags in tow.
* We'll warm up with a short brisk walk and a little sniffing time.
* We'll run for our pre-determined time or mileage during which I will do regular paw
checks and administer water when needed.
* We'll cool down with a short walk to stretch and relax our muscles.
* I'll return your best friend to your home, happy, healthy and relaxed.
* At the end of every term I will update you with a spreadsheet containing
documentation of your dog's progress in terms of fitness, weight loss or miles run
where applicable- to proudly display on your refrigerator. I will also
call out general experience highlights from our outdoor adventures.
