Miriam Vogelfanger-Coca has an extensive background in education and marketing. While living in California she owned and ran a multilingual adult education and translation center. She closed in 1983, then moved to Washington D.C. in 1984, where she worked as a bilingual teacher for the World Bank and the IMF. Miriam decided to combine her expertise with her passion for animals. She founded Fur, Fins, and Feathers, Incorporated, a pet sitting, grooming, and house sitting business in Maryland and in Washington D.C. from 1989 till she sold in 2002.

She has now opened the same up scale quality service here in her beloved Evergreen, Colorado. Her vision was and is to establish a business that is enjoyable, creative and innovative.

Sitters who are hired go through an extensive interview and background check. Their orientation involves joining an experienced sitter on his or her rounds. The orientation includes an evaluation process including feedback from the evaluator, actual observation of the new sitter with animals and feedback from the new sitter. Sitters get fingerprinted and are bonded and insured.

The East Coast business had grown steadily at a rate of 30% per year and grossed in the mid six figures, employing over sixty people all walks of life and careers all with a common love of animals. Fur, Fins & Feathers, L.L.C. in Evergreen looks forward to the same rate of growth with the loyalty of clients and sitters to accommodate her clientele and yet small enough to be personable and workable.

In 1998, she and her husband moved to Evergreen, Colorado where she had every intention of opening yet another extension of the same business and continuing her passion. However, time out was forced on her, due to a severe car accident in Maryland the day before the final move to Evergreen, and after many surgeries. She is now so exited to be able to get involved once again in the loving service of pets and their people here in the Evergreen Community by offering Fur, Fins & Feathers LLC.

In 1994 Miriam also started her own consulting business. She provides seminars, consulting, training, coaching, in addition to problem solving, which are tailored to the pet sitting industry. Miriam has also served as Chair Person for The Ethics Committee for The National Association Of Professional Pet Sitters ( NAPPS ) for two years.

Her philosophy of open sharing and her attitude of abundance for all, are what makes her business so sought after.
